The anti-buckling bracing is a kind of energy dissipation element, which is a new type of hysteretic energy dissipation bracing. The biggest difference between buckling braces and ordinary braces is that ordinary braces have the problem of buckling under compression, while buckling braces will not buckle under tension or compression. This is because the main energy-consuming component of the buckling brace, that is, the restriction element (usually a steel casing) around the core unit, makes the core unit not buckling before the full section yields under the action of axial pressure, thus effectively It avoids the problem of easy buckling of ordinary supports under compression. The hysteretic performance of the core element can dissipate most of the seismic energy and reduce the damage to the main structure caused by the seismic action.

The buckling restraint support is generally composed of three parts, namely the core unit, the restraint unit and the sliding mechanism unit. become. Common cross-sectional forms are cross-shaped, T-shaped, double-T-shaped and in-line, etc., which are suitable for different stiffness requirements and energy consumption requirements. The restraint element, also known as the lateral support element, is responsible for providing a restraint mechanism to prevent the overall or residual buckling of the core element under axial compression. The more common form of restraint is steel-filled concrete or pure steel structure restraint. The sliding mechanism element, also known as the delamination element, provides a sliding interface between the core element and the constraint element, so that the support has similar mechanical properties as possible under tension and compression, and avoids the expansion of the core element due to compression. The friction force between the units causes a large increase in the axial pressure. This sliding unit is generally made of some non-bonded materials.
The buckling restraint support only connects the core plate with other components, and the load is all borne by the core plate. The outer sleeve and filling material only constrain the core plate to buckling under compression, so that the core plate cannot enter into yield under tension and compression. Therefore, the hysteretic performance of the buckling restrained bracing is excellent. On the one hand, buckling restraint bracing can avoid the obvious difference in tensile and compressive bearing capacity of ordinary bracing, on the other hand, it has the energy dissipation capacity of metal damper, which can act as a "fuse" in the structure, so that the main structure is basically within the elastic range. Therefore, the application of buckling restraint bracing can comprehensively improve the seismic performance of traditional bracing frames under moderate and large earthquakes.
